Point Loma United Methodist Church takes action in the communities of Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and the larger San Diego area. Through community outreach, via programs like Loaves and Fishes, a Food Pantry, and The Stand Down, a veterans-in-need event, we seek out ways to facilitate the needs of those in our community who have fallen on hard times.
Our members also seek to care for our environment by participating in programs like the Surf Riders Foundation. Our members can be found protecting San Diego’s treasured beaches, along side our fellow San Diegans, protecting God’s gifts is part of our daily lives, as we continue to seek out more opportunities to care for God’s creation. We also turn our attention abroad in connection with Imagine No Malaria, to help in the long term reduction and eventual eradication of Malaria in the African continent, through responsible development projects and personal prevention and supplies.
We also seek to heal, as our members participate in raising awareness and nurturing the needs of others. Through programs such as Relay for Life, a cancer survivor/research funding event, and The Point-In-Time We All Count, a means of securing resources for the homeless. Not only our members, but the community and especially the individual recipients are secure that we are moved by their struggle and are willing to help them through it.
Local churches provide the most significant arena through which disciple-making occurs.
